Food riots. Resource wars. Catastrophic storms. Unexplained mass extinctions. Coincidence?
It is the middle of the twenty-first century, and the world is out of time. On the brink of a global environmental cataclysm, a physicist attempting to harness the ultimate renewable clean-energy source offers the only remaining option to delay the imminent disaster time travel. But while helping to save the world through the method he develops–a mysterious and otherworldly combination of physics and metaphysics–Mark Lawson unwittingly plants the seeds for its misuse by those who have everything to gain from engineering a future where they make the rules. He has discovered the key to the most extreme potential weapon of mass destruction ever known to man, and now it must be controlled.
Forty-five years later, in a fragile world still recovering from near devastation and in which the secret of ‘relativistic diving’ has fallen into the wrong hands, the men and women of a covert intelligence organization quietly fight an undeclared war against a new kind of enemy–one that wields 'temporal terrorism' as a weapon. Using the techniques first developed by Lawson, the Guardians are engaged in a life-and-death struggle to preserve the integrity of world history. But while they battle to prevent civilization as they know it from being changed forever, they begin to discover that the enemy may not be who, or what, they think it is.
Set largely in Greece, the first novel in THE GUARDIANS series by author DAMIAN LAWRENCE deftly blends history and fiction to guide the reader through a thrilling web of intrigue and adventure spanning three centuries. From the heroism and tragedy of the Greek War of Independence, to the Great Game between the world’s major powers and the ascendance of a New World Order, THE GUARDIANS OF TIME explores social, moral and spiritual questions that are highly relevant to our own time in an exciting and thought-provoking narrative.

I can't take reading this book anymore. It's very descriptive to the point of frustration. If you like detailed descriptions of Greek villages and life, then this is your book. Not me.I still don't know what the heck is going on as far as the plot, and I won't invest any more time in this book.
sorry Mr. Lawrence, I know you put a lot of effort into this, and for some it may be just the ticket.
For me I'm getting off this train.

The Guardians of Time eBook Damian Lawrence Reviews
There can be no comparison between this book and Shakespeare. It is what it is. A fun and entertaining romp through History embellished with enough magic to suit the most hardcore of Science Fiction junkies. Science is turned on its head to create an impossible world where the forces of history are steered in a game-like environment of pure good versus darkest evil.
Where some might prefer that the characters define the story, this is neither possible nor appropriate to this saga. Time is the protagonist. The characters play out their roles on a stage where the outcome is always certain while remaining opaque to the characters---and to the reader.
If you are looking for condensed storytelling, you will miss out on the charm of this book. Take it in leisurely. Enjoy the scenery. Ride the twists and turns of History as the author rides herd on the back of the Fates. This book was written for History addicts who are not adverse to diving into a cross between the academic and the fanciful.
The guardians of Time is a fantastic read! It has adventure, theology, and accurate historical events all rolled up into one. You won't be able to put it down. Damian Lawrence has done an outstanding job!
I would like to first compliment this talented author. That being said, I would not have bought this book had I known that the story would only be complete after reading two or possible three books. After reading it completely, I was shocked the the story just stopped! (Like a movie that ends abruptly when it's budget is spent.) I thought there must be some sort of mistake! No mistake though! Just an abrupt ending. I don't care what list it's on, am very disappointed after many hours of reading.
The reason this book is so cheap is that it's only half a book. None of the multiple story lines reach any sort of conclusion and the book just stops. I feel this is just a cheap trick by the author and/or the publisher to lure you in, then if you want to know how the story ends you have to buy book two.
Jumping to and fro in time, from medieval Greece to the last quarter of the 21st century, from the Greek war of independence to the present without getting lost.
Damian Lawrence combines history and science fiction in an enticing and adventurous novel, which I enjoyed all the more as the events largely take place in the south of the Peloponnese, Greece - in monasteries, towns and a landscape well known to me. And I discovered new great places as well!
Time travel has saved the planet, but at the same time has become its greatest threat. The handsome young Moroccan Rashid is signed up with the elderly Leonidas, an experienced time guardian - to find out what the bad guys are up to. Both Paladins - members of an order of ascetic men from different religious backgrounds - face danger and moral dilemmas while taking a relativistic dive back to the year 1825.
The only disadvantage after 460 pages of fascinating reading the issue is not yet solved. Luckily I can continue in the 2nd book The Sacred City.
I got fooled by the glowing reviews of the author's friends and family. This book goes nowhere and it does it slowly. There are no real characters to speak of and no one to really get interested in. I can't believe I wasted my money on this. I finally couldn't take it anymore and had to stop at the 12% mark. Just bloody awful. Instead of the Guardians of Time it should be called Incomprehensible Greece Now and in the past - sort of. Save your money and look elsewhere because if you are looking for a time travel adventure "this ain't it".
By gritting my teeth I managed to make it to the 18% mark, but then I had to give up. It can be summed up in one word - terrible.
I can't take reading this book anymore. It's very descriptive to the point of frustration. If you like detailed descriptions of Greek villages and life, then this is your book. Not me.
I still don't know what the heck is going on as far as the plot, and I won't invest any more time in this book.
