Hugh Glass has certainly been immortalized in the last couple of years. I do wish there had been a little less romanticism. The story is amazing without it.

A great read...The author was able to give me sense that I was there watching everything happen...
I don't normally read historical fiction, but this one was a real jewel in disguise. Thom created a believable plot based on the early history of the Pacific Northwest. By plugging in a huge quantity of historical fact along with a well crafted tale, I not only learned a lot but thoroughly enjoyed the read.
Compared to the original by DeVoto, it was pathetic. I hoped to be able to download the original, but it was not listed. If the original were available, I would buy it.
This novel sure takes you to another era. Great adventure reading. formatting a problem that needs fixing. But the author's storytelling skills and research are excellent.
A really stupid book with flat characters living in circumstances never existed as described. Historically inaccurate, morally inane; a total waste of time.
I was shocked when I realized that this book was not the Pulitzer Prize winning "Across the Wide Missouri" by Bernard DeVoto. It might be good fiction, but the title is beyond the pale in the literary world. It seems like the author is trying to ride the coattails of one of our finest authors. Shame on him.
